At first I thought, instinctively, nice try, Aaron, but it won’t work. Then I thought—why not? This is a brilliant idea. What would help is if someone (i.e., you) put together a sort of call out, that citizens could send to their congressional representatives. Or get a few key officials on board first. Is someone doing this kind of organizing?
YES! Why not, what the hell else do Dem Congress people do (including every single one of RI's) other than walk around looking Congressional? I am prejudiced but I love the way Bernie Sanders works his state - operative word "works" - by managing to be in every hotspot and supporting Americans in need wherever whenever. Bernie's management of his office sounds something like what you are suggesting, Aaron. Great Idea & another great idea is for you to run again BTW.
Your image of this opposition is encouraging! The fact that many of our Democratic leaders lack a spine, however, gives me pause; although, our leaders that do possess strength - such as Bernie Sanders, AOC, Ro Khanna, Chris Van Hollen…hell, even candidates - should definitely be putting themselves out there and showing the rest of the Democratic Party and the country how it’s done. Kat Abughazaleh and Graham Platner have been outspoken on this. It’s time for our congress to stand up for American interests rather than special or personal interests!
Great idea! I'd LOVE to forward your email to my frustratingly invisible Rhode Island contingent. Unfortunately, I don't know how to contact them. And they seemingly don't care about impressing normal people anyway.
I sent a message to my congressman through an email campaign, and received a very vague response talking about how they take “my issue” so seriously. I’ve contacted their office a few times regarding various issues, so how am I supposed to assume which “issue” of mine is so important to them? Members of Congress should have contact information on their government websites. If you google their name, typically one of the first few links that appears!
Minneapolis - the city government and the citizens - ought to INVITE Congress into their homes for two months (or longer). Congress may convene anywhere: after September 11, a session took place in downtown Manhattan. By "Congress," I mean the whole bunch! Ok, leave Mike Johnson behind to monitor the thermostat.
agree with seizing the moment. Calling or or emailing our Senators is indeed important as is demonstrating. The demonstrations due to public revulsion to the cruel Trump regime policies (and their lies, especially the defamation of Good and Pretti (a nurse, we love our nurses!) have apparently really had an effect as Trump and some Republicans seem to be backing down. Minnesota protesters, facing the bitter cold and the actual physical threat, are especially to be appreciated,
But I caution about too much cynicism about Democrats and their leadership - they don't have power in Washington and their leverage reduces to choosing between two bad policies (giving in or shutting the government's decent programs while ICE can still continue) The Minnesota Democratic leaders seem to have done what they can (and the Democratic AGs, including our own, have resisted extensively) Ultimately, the most likely way to stop the slide to autocracy will be if Democrats can retake some or all of Congress, and for that to happen, all the wings of that party have to come to cooperation
😏Would have long since expected a LOT of NRA commentary about governmental tyranny and justifiable armed 2dAmenment resistance ,,, and more rushings to buy out gun stores ,,, maybe the NRAtypes LIKE dictator takeovers?,,, or just really like a pedophile sucking Putin?
BRAVO!!!

they won’t, so much opium, what’s the plan when the outcome will be yet another strongly written letter?
Where is the details mentioned?
