I'm not surprised the Democratic establishment is ineffective or that Venezuela is cowed, and we know the Republicans are useless and the MAGA folks just parrot Trump even as he reversed positions (reminds me of "1984") but I am disappointed about the failure of European leaders to resist, even as Greenland/Denmark is threatened. They already gave in on tariffs, buying US weapons, reducing efforts to combat climate change, and on some EU rules on consumer protection....all this encourages even more extreme demands. The only way I can see to stop Trumps aggression is if the EU, which itself has about 450 million people, helped organize most of the world's countries to sanction the US on trade, travel, cultural matters etc
Trump is a criminal. Stealing at the point of a gun, stealing with a sign of a pen, stealing from Americans, stealiing from the wolrd, condeming the world to hothouse conditions that will kill millions of people. I hope NATO sends a large force to Greenland to protect it. Trump will not attack in a fair fight, he only picks on the defenseless since he is as coward and a bully who is afraid of his shadow.
When will MAGA and trumpers finally realized that their dear leader is the biggest con artist of all time? All he does is scam and grift. Maybe this is wishful thinking on my part?
What’s worse though - like you referenced - is that Democrats need to, but haven’t really spoken up. Or if they do speak, it’s empty words. We need a party of action. I’m hopeful 2026 midterms will result in large primary victories, particularly over Jeffries. Unfortunately Schumer isn’t up yet, but his leadership seat should be a hot one (I’m looking at you, Chris Van Hollen).
